Boberg Arms

Just today I found out that a major gun manufacturer (larger than Kahr or Kel-Tec) is producing a pocket-sized 9mm pistol - the Sig P290. This is, of course, is way overdue and I am guessing that other large manufacturers will follow suit and are likely working on something at this moment. So where does that put Boberg Arms? Well, the way I look at it, the Boberg XR9 series of pistols still offer features and benefits that the other guys may never have, because they are too busy copying each other. The Sig P290 is almost identical in size to the Kahr PM9, but weighs almost 5 ounces more. Also, like the Ruger LCP and Rohrbaugh, the Sig P290 has an extremely short grip (both front strap and backstrap) - not much to hang on to with a "full 9". Speaking of that - Sig claims on their website, "Full Size Power...". I'm sorry, but the 2.9" barrel in Sig P290 will deliver only 75% of the power of a full-sized 9mm pistol, which translates to 40-50 ft-lbs less than the shorter XR9-S, and 80-90 ft-lbs less than the slightly longer XR9-L. Oh, and that P290 bore axis height.... That being said, it will probably sell well because its a Sig!

Here are overlays of the Sig P290 versus the XR9-S and other pistols (will be adding more with time): http://www.bobergarms.com/photo/photo/slideshow?albumId=2312567:Alb...
