How It All Began
It has been a long journey for inventor and company founder Arne Boberg. He started building guns at age 11 using basic tools such as a hacksaw, a file set, and a drill press. At age 16 he initially missed the opportunity to get on the right track in high school - that is until a new-found friend discovered his ingenious guns and recommended that he become a mechanical engineer. While Arne did not know what an engineer was at the time, a brochure from his high school guidance office made this type of career look interesting - especially compared to possibly working in his father's lumber business, which did not involve building guns. Fortunately, his school had accelerated classes, allowing him to catch up before graduating. Now he could be accepted into engineering school.
After graduating from college, Arne's first really big job was in capital equipment design at a major corporation. While this did not involve building guns, it did provide experience in designing highly interdependent mechanisms and creating new processes. Some time after his division got spun off into a new company, Arne gained valuable experience in product design, which played well into the development of the XR9. Arne received numerous honors and patents while working at both corporations. Many of his machines are in production today, producing billions of dollars worth of product per year. In April, 2009, Arne left his day job to pursue his childhood dream of building guns at Boberg Arms Corporation.
