How cool would it be, to have a Boberg XR50-S which shoots 50 cal GI. I know that this would be ridiculous to manufacture, but from an engineering perspective, would it be possible?

It would actually be 5+1 in an XR9-S grip length. Recall that our ongoing .45 design has a 5-1/2 +1 capacity. Darn - what is my upper limit here? .500 S&W?

the fireball out of the muzzle would be like a foot long...besides, only Chuck Norris could hold on to that and say "it has a mite of recoil..."

There, I said it - "the smaller .45 ACP round". You will not see that phrase too often.

How does your 50GI shoot compared to a 45ACP?

**fwiw; i own a 50GI
Permalink Reply by josh2415 on February 29, 2012 at 3:31pm Sounds like a fun piece to have in the collection. Not a round that you'd want to practice a lot with though - what do you figure your cost is per round?

Permalink Reply by LASZLO DIGIOIA on February 29, 2012 at 5:34pm Over $2 per round - box o' 20 from impactguns is $35 befo' shipping.
Yeah you can find 454 Casull for cheaper... sometimes.
I just had to have it because it's a widened 45ACP, with the rebated rim on it being equal to its parent.
Nowadays; i just love it for the look of .50 holes in paper. Can't wrap my imagination around the devastation of a .50 hollow point.
Wonder if it were cheaper on brass and powder if someone patented a 50 based off the 45GAP.

50 GI OAL 31.0mm 1.221"

GI is only 1.3mm longer than 9, but 1.4mm shorter than ACP.
-and 1.3mm wider than 45
Permalink Reply by Ed on March 11, 2012 at 12:16am Do not forget the .40 S&W at 28.8 mm 1.135" overall length, even shorter than the 9x19 Parabellum round and at 35,000 psi maximum pressure the same pressure as the 9x19 Parabellum.
