Hi, one other question to add to my last one
How long does the recoil spring last in the XR9-S? The instructions say the mainspring lasts 2-5k rounds, but does not mention the recoil spring.
I'm worried because I looked up another pocket 9mm and it says the recoil spring only lasts 200 rounds in that gun. Do I need to go get a big bunch of recoil springs for my new shorty?

Our recoil springs have a working length which is almost as long as the gun. Some other brands of pocket pistols cram the spring in that short space under the barrel, with varying results in spring life.
Our recoil springs start out at about 5.5" and take a set at 4.8- 4.9". I personally have shot several thousand rounds through one recoil spring and the 4.9" length remained unchanged. If someone wears out a recoil spring while under warranty, we will replace it for free (but at that point, the gun may be totally worn out too!).

I know when It's worn out, I'll just buy the new one you will be manufacturing by that time... No one can predict round count, but if you could say: I'll be quite surprised if it starts failing after N rounds, but you definitely should think about buying replacement after M rounds.

I'm guessing that the barrel will wear out before anything else does.
Permalink Reply by thegunenthusiast on January 3, 2012 at 6:59pm Barrel shouldn't be a big deal, I'll just buy a couple of spares once you have parts for sale on the website. Just out of curiosity: which part of barrel wear will make it unusable: protrusions participating in locking (which would be my guess) or bore. Some rough number of rounds will be great just to have a feeling of what durability to expect. Just for the sake of argument, if you tell me the barrel will last 5k (put here whatever reasonable number is) rounds (lets speak regular loads), and the rest of the pistol will be good for 2 barrels (or 10k). Plus: replace this spring every x round and that spring every y rounds.
I do understand that it may be hard to tell numbers , but it will be good to know the ballpark. Say, you will tell me my XR-9S will last 10k rounds (with replacements of barrel, etc.), then I'll be pretty happy. Comparison: Grand Power K-100 (in US aka STI GP-6 - polished up by STI K-100) lasts 100k rounds. But that is much larger pistol, and all parts working against each other under stress are made of CrMo steel. So, in my opinion if my Boberg lasts 10k rounds it is much better than K-100 (taking into account unique qualities of Boberg everyone of us knows).
I'm purposefully mentioning these (probably small than real ones may be) numbers to provoke the answer with what you will expect from the pistol ;-)
