Boberg Arms

First thing I did was check the fit to hand, as that's really important to me.  I was thrilled that it fit like a glove, very natural and comfortable...perfectly balanced, too.  I'm not kidding when I say this is the most ergonomic fit of any of my 12 handguns, even with only two fingers on the grip...it's just amazing.

And I believe this all really improves the whole experience when actually shooting.  Combined with a smooth, even, medium trigger pull, the gun is rock steady throughout the shooting sequence.  The gun's weight and the deep cut of the grip make the recoil very minimal, and I find muzzle flip also very minimal, which makes followup shots consistent.

I only had time to run two mags through it, a very light 115 grain MagTech load, so I'm curious to see how a +P load feels.

Only thing I'm not sure about is the sights/sight picture.  First mag I shot using the Sight Image 1 below, and I seemed to be consistently about 5-6 low at 9 yards.  So I raised up to the Sight Image 3 and I seemed to be consistently low about 2-3 inches. It was starting to get a little dark, so I'll try in better light tomorrow and see how things go.  I always figure I have to learn the individual ins and outs of any new gun, so it's a learning process.

All in all, I'm really pleased so far, and I'd say this was worth every penny...and worth the wait, too!

Harry,  I have the Uplula and I find that it doesn't work on the Boberg mags.  The top flanges on the mag curves in too much and doesn't allow the tongue on the Uplula to depress the top round.  Do you have a trick that you use to bypass this?

There is a fellow who modifies the Uplula to load .22 mags.  The modified loader will also load just about any single stack/double stack magazine in existence up to .45 ACP.  His email address is DenStinett@aol.com.

The price is $40 shipped.  I have used both this and a regular Uplula to load the XR9 magazines - the modified one is easier, but neither can be used to load the seventh round, which has to be inserted without a loader.  The regular Uplula can be used if you depress the back end of the cartridge only with the tip of the loader "beak", thereby avoiding the flanges.  Try it, you,ll like it.

Thanks for the info, Robert.  Sounds like it may not be quite worth the $40.  And your description is exactly how I've run my Uplula.  You can spare your fingers a little, but I really don't bother with it.  The mag will load easier after a while, anyway.  Arne has a creative mind, and I'm sure he'll come up with an XR mag loader design for sale soon enough.

I installed the new standard sight that Arne sent me (.010" lower than the original factory sight).  It did move my point of impact up a bit. Not sure I wouldn't have minded another .010" lowering, but I've fully adjusted to the gun now, and I'm shooting well with it.  Just need some regular practice to improve and to stay proficient.

Great news Harry about getting your Boberg. So which sight did you finally settle on?

The serrations are also pretty good for making coleslaw.

Arne while at the range today me and the range manger shot the Boberg and both of us felt the gun shot low at 7 yards. I used sight image #1 from previously mentioned images. Would the lower front sight you mentioned above bring up the hit mark?
Where do I order the lower front sight? Arne Boberg said:

I can send you a front sight that is .010" lower - that should get you closer to center.

I will send you one - just drop me an e-mail with your address.  Also, we are going to be making a .015" lower sight starting next week - you may want to wait for that one.

Just received mine today. Accounting for Feb 29 2012,  a year and a day from going on the pre-buy list. It's been far more than worth the wait. This pistol really is a marvel of engineering. Arne and Mrs. Arne, 1000X thank you for seeing your vision through to fruition. We are all indebted to you for that!
