First thing I did was check the fit to hand, as that's really important to me. I was thrilled that it fit like a glove, very natural and comfortable...perfectly balanced, too. I'm not kidding when I say this is the most ergonomic fit of any of my 12 handguns, even with only two fingers on the grip...it's just amazing.
And I believe this all really improves the whole experience when actually shooting. Combined with a smooth, even, medium trigger pull, the gun is rock steady throughout the shooting sequence. The gun's weight and the deep cut of the grip make the recoil very minimal, and I find muzzle flip also very minimal, which makes followup shots consistent.
I only had time to run two mags through it, a very light 115 grain MagTech load, so I'm curious to see how a +P load feels.
Only thing I'm not sure about is the sights/sight picture. First mag I shot using the Sight Image 1 below, and I seemed to be consistently about 5-6 low at 9 yards. So I raised up to the Sight Image 3 and I seemed to be consistently low about 2-3 inches. It was starting to get a little dark, so I'll try in better light tomorrow and see how things go. I always figure I have to learn the individual ins and outs of any new gun, so it's a learning process.
All in all, I'm really pleased so far, and I'd say this was worth every penny...and worth the wait, too!

Permalink Reply by John Brady on January 10, 2012 at 10:36pm With limited range time my impression is that it shoots low based on your sight image #2 above.
What is the diameter of the circle you are referencing above? (Presuming 9 yards)

Permalink Reply by Harry Truman on January 11, 2012 at 5:33am Gun was shipped on 12-23. Target is an 8" diameter Shoot-N-C @ 9 yards
I can send you a front sight that is .010" lower - that should get you closer to center.
Permalink Reply by Harry Truman on January 11, 2012 at 11:22am Thanks, Arne. I will let you know after I've given it a more thorough workout of at least 50 shots later today. I will like try a box of actual +P carry ammo to see if it shoots any differently.
Permalink Reply by Harry Truman on January 11, 2012 at 7:03pm Ran 4 mags through the Shorty this afternoon, 2 of cheap, 115 grain ball and two of 124 grain Speer Gold Dot +P. The +P ammo had-just as Arontee said above-only a slight bit more felt recoil. The gun absorbed it well, with no additional muzzle flip. In fact, for whatever reason, I got a noticeably tighter grouping with the Gold Dots. I was really pleased about that!
Also, the more I shot using the Sight Image 3 above, the better the results. It's not my normal sight picture, so a little practice was in order. I'd say it is still a little low, but not nearly what I thought at first...less than 2" for sure at 9 yards. And Arne is sending a different front sight, so I'll try that out...thanks, Arne!
So 45 flawless shots so far, and just lot of fun to shoot. I feel I could run a couple hundred rounds in an outing and feel no adverse effects at all. Can't say the same for even 50 rounds of some similar sized .380s I've shot. I know I'll really get to mesh with this gun and be shooting my best after I get a few hundred rounds through it with varied shots-longer distance, fast-drawing/rapid fire, one hand, etc, etc.
I'm ordering a couple of those Meco holsters and looking forward to carrying it soon. Keep you posted!
Permalink Reply by Harry Truman on January 11, 2012 at 7:15pm Thought I'd add that, while it's tough to load the last couple rounds in the magazine, I found that my Butler Creek Lula loader worked great, after a practiced with it a few times. It's not totally necessary, but it definitely makes loading easier. Probably a must have for some of the lady Boberg owners out there.
Permalink Reply by Harry Truman on January 12, 2012 at 10:33pm I wanted to mention that I also love the slide serrations. It's a little detail, I know, but then again little details add up to the whole gun in the end. I've racked some guns where you got the feeling the designer didn't put much thought into this area, or maybe just copied some other design...or maybe went with something just because it looked cool. These just feel so right. They're aggressive, but not unpleasant at all, and they provide a very positive grip. I'm guessing they'll retain that aggressive profile forever, because of that super hard stainless used. A very easy gun to rack.
Permalink Reply by Aron on January 12, 2012 at 11:12pm The slide serrations remind me of the serrations on my PT145. I have to clean built up dead skin from both of them from time to time...lol... They are perfect!
