Another fine leather creation from Mr. Locke. Because I've been carrying a .380 in a front pocket holster for some time, I thought I'd want to do the same with the Boberg. So I ordered one of these along with the IWB holster. I think this design is pretty distinctive and unique. The upper backing piece really breaks up the outline of the grip, yet moves aside easily to grasp it...well done! BTW, nice top detailing in the second pic. Right now the edges are stiff and square, so the outline stands out a bit in the front pocket of my jeans. But I know the four corners will round in a bit after wearing it awhile, so it will be less noticeable and look more like a wallet. With seven in the mag, though, it's the widest wallet I've ever seen! Still, it works acceptably well for front pocket carry. Too tight to draw now, but that will improve as it wears in.
You can see in the last pic why it can't really be carried in the back pocket, though it fits great there. The way girls are always checking out my butt, it's just too risky...8-) Perfect to wear in pants with a button down pocket flap...just don't button, of course. Two thumbs up for Meco holsters!

I was looking at that same model - looks like you did the stitched upgrade? Did he send you any pics of the rivited or laced versions?
Huh, now that you mention it, I never requested the stitched versions and hadn't really thought about it. On the Meco website it does say "Standard rivet construction", so maybe...well, I just don't know. I do think the stitched versions look a lot nicer, but considering they spend their lives concealed, I suppose most folks can live without it.
Thank you for postiong al about your new holster great pics
Thank you
Robert
Again, the XR9-S in this holster fits great in a back pocket. It's a shame it can't be can't be carried this way in all pants. Maybe Robert could add a feature like this:
Not sure how much, if at all, that zipper would interfere with drawing the weapon, but it would allow carry without worry of being seen. A pickpocket would sure get a big surprise, though, if he tried to snatch it!
Both these options would really hinder drawing the gun
I guess that's not too surprising. Guess I'll just stay with rear pockets with flaps.
FWIW:
Rear pocket carry is my preferred method of cc, and I can carry my LWS380 easily in all trousers, and my LCP (w/CT Laser) in "some" of my trousers (with deeper pockets).
Since the XR9-S was reported similar in size to the LCP I was hoping I would be able to carry it in a rear pocket in lieu of the LCP. Does that sound reasonable, or will I probably wind up carrying it IWB holster?
I doubt any pistol will ever conceal as easily as the Seecamp.. That sucker will hide in a rear pocket in a heartbeat, but as much as I love mine IF I could upgrade to a 9MM for rear pocket concealed carry I'd certainly be interested in doing so.
I'll try to attach a photo of my LWS380 and LCP to give you an idea of the difference in sizes between the 2.
I'm thinking that little "flap" on the top of one of the holsters in the photos posted above might be the only way I could carry the XR9-S concealed in a rear pocket holster on a regular basis...

But perhaps drawing practice could overcome that. Someone really should make an xr9s back pocket holster that wallet camouflages the top with a flap. It seems to fit just too nicely in a back pocket for this to not be overcome. I imagine I'd adapt with a little practice. Of course, I don't have mine yet, these are just my thoughts.

I agree, Jethro. Truth is, for many pants, you can't carry in your back pocket and maintain complete concealment. Which, as you say, is a shame, because it otherwise fits so well. Oh, and I believe that zipper holster is only available for the Ruger LCP.
Let's compare the XR9-S to another gun I carry a lot, a Taurus 738 TCP .380, with a Crimson Trace laser. The Taurus is about the same length, 3/16 inch, or so, thinner, and about 3/8 inch shorter (only a 6 round mag). The Taurus is shown in an Uncle George's Wallet Holster, the Boberg in a Meco Split Pocket Holster. As you can see, both holsters cover the entire length of the gun, so I'd say there's little or no concealment advantage to going without a holster in a back pocket.
The comparison below is Wrangler cargo pants vs Levi 505 jeans (regular fit 8-). First photo for each is the Taurus .380. The cargo pockets are bigger and deeper, but even so you can still see the top of the gun. Less so with the .380, but...oops, there it is! And the heavier, thicker XR9S holds the pocket open a bit more, so it shows even more gun. The Levi pockets are smaller and shallower, so it's even worse for both guns. Needless to say, I front pocket carry 95% of the time, even though it is slow on the draw.
Same comparisons in front pocket carry. First photo of each is the smaller .380 Better without a flash, as that tends to wash out some shadowing, making it appear a little less noticeable than it really is. Hard to be accurate with front pocket pics, as the shape changes with every little move you make. Stand just right and they're almost invisible, but turn just a bit and you want to say wtf is that?? No gun outline, sure, but that ain't no wallet either!
That ain't no pistol in my pocket, I'm just glad to see ya.
In time the holster will mold to the curve of your leg
