Boberg Arms

Today my mom and I went to try the new XR9s. I have to say I was a bit worried as last night I tried cycling rounds through it with the slide and had less than pleasing results. But today I put about 80 rounds through it with four incidents. One was a FTF on my mom that I think is attributed to limp-wristing. Two were FTF when loading the first round from the magazine One was a Monarch FMJ and one a CorBon DPX SHP. The last was a Fiocchi FMJ that actually pulled apart and emptied the powder all over me. I'm glad I twern't smokin at the time. So I'm guessing that the Fiocchi is not a crimped case cartridge. The others that I had were a JHP that had a plastic bead in the end, Is that a Hydra-Shock?? They worked real well, the CorBod DPX worked well but did catch when chambering the first round in the mag a couple of times. The Monarch FMJ steel case cheap caught only once out of 40 or so rounds and they otherwise poured through as smooth as glass. The UMC FMJ w/brass case did fine as well, which I'm glad as that is what I practice with. My mom spoke to Arne today to let him know he was right, it doesn't recoil any worse than her G19.

Check the forums on this site. The peeps have posted extensive lists on what ammo works well, so you dont have to find out the hard way.

Always rack the slide hard and fast on the first one in the mag. It breaks in eventually.

Congratulations and good report! 80 rounds is a good first workout.  Hopefully as you get it fully broken in and find your sweet spot ammo, you'll feel confident to carry it to protect yourself.  I think the round with the plastic bead in the end might be Hornady Critical Defense, a good choice if it works for you.  Best of luck!
