i see the overall lengths are .450" apart, but the barrell lengths are the same (both 4.2") why is this? what is different about the two pistols to keep the barrell length the same but overall length is affected?

the dimensions of the proposed XR9-M with a 3.75" barrel sound just perfect to me. give it a nice grip extension/ more firepower and you would make at least one customer more than happy with this product (-;

A typo - barrel length follows overall length (or vice-versa). While we haven't finalized it yet, a proposed XR9-M would have a 3.75" barrel.
Plus, the overall length of a future XR9-M would be the about the same as a Kimber Solo, a Kahr PM9 and a Sig P290, but with a barrel the same length as a Beretta Cougar!
