Arne ...
Any chance at getting custom serial numbers like Seecamp does for their firearms?
Not that you don't have enough interest as it stands, just think it would be a nice touch :-)

Permalink Reply by BretShooter on February 1, 2011 at 11:02am Just a few months ago, a custom serial number would have meant filling out special ATF forms (with custom-configured attached sheets) so that we would get a marking variance for our plater to do a different style of serial number. I am guessing that this flooded the ATF with paperwork since many manufactures want to create new products with different serial numbers all the time, and may offer "limited series" guns, and may even want to change platers once in a while. I just got the official notice from the ATF yesterday stating that companies that are just adding plating are no longer considered FFLs and do not need marking variances. This allows us to create any kind of serial number we want without having to go through special paperwork and a waiting period for a marking variance. However, we do need to keep things steady for at least the first 1000 guns, since we have a lot of things we have to get right before offering nice things like custom serial numbers.

Way to make me spend more money Arne ;-)

Permalink Reply by CWC on July 23, 2011 at 8:49am I'd like to get a custom serial numbered Seecamp, but I'm coming into that game a couple of decades late.
Part of the fun of being on the pre-order waiting list for the XR9 is seeing how close my serial is to BAX0001. Under 1000 would be sweet. Under 500 would be totally baller. Even if it meant shipping it back for alteration (which doesn't seem likely, judging by Arne's commitment to detail on this project), I'd prize that little stamped number, and the littler the better.

Permalink Reply by LASZLO DIGIOIA on February 10, 2012 at 11:34pm It would be kinda neat to match numbers with the series number off a Rolex or the VIN off a classic car?
**fwiw I built an AR pistol on my plastic lower with custom serial #
