Boberg Arms

This caught my eye, and got me to thinking.

Coonan 357 1911 featured in "Blind Pass"

Featuring in a video game only goes so far...

Do you think Walther P99 sales went up when James Bond traded in his PPK?  I think it is about time for ole 007 to get a new standard pistol, the XR9S!

I wonder if there are any gun fans in the upper management of the James Bond movie "machine"?  If so, how about a long term pistol loan (with option to buy, of course) for that influential individual, and if it is accepted to be used in the movie, a special serial number could be issued, something like HMSS-007.  "Her Majesty's Secret Service"-007.  Afterall, this is just the kind of weapon that Q would build.

So now the idea has been proposed.  How do we make it happen?

Facebook got a gig for Betty White to host SNL last year, I wonder if we could start an FB campaign to drive the idea with public support.

I think that without a person on the inside, it would be nearly impossible (where is John Milius when you need him?).  So lets get the 6 degrees concept rolling to find a gun savvy person in the James Bond franchise and get this ball rolling!

I see it is a UAE-made gun - now I feel bad that I wasn't representin' the US at SHOT.

We have had about 3 movie offers in about 2 years, but none recently.  I have contacted one of the production companies that was interested before but got no reply.  I guess the IPOD app will have to do until we get another call from a filmmaker.

I like your FB idea, though.  If I just knew how to kick it off....

Well, follow up info to the writers that have pistols giving new info "L version is next model, 45 in the works.. Oh and by the way, we are having a contest (I can't come up with everything!) on Facebook for the public to vote on James Bond being issued a Boberg".

Hell, ask them who might be a gun person in Hollywood.  Milius is one.  Perhaps THEY know of someone in the Bond franchise that shoots.  But getting the exposure is the key.  Let the writers work for you!

According to the Wikipedia article on "Caracal pistol", it's also a German product:

"As of 2011 Caracal pistols are also manufactured in Germany by Caracal GmbH operating from Suhl in Thuringia.[3] Caracal GmbH is a subsidiary of the German hunting rifle and shotgun manufacturer Merkel GmbH[4] which was acquired by Caracal International L.L.C. in 2007."

As to the many good ideas about marketing and popularizing the Boberg (James Bond, etc.), wouldn't it be better to keep them on hold until production has been ramped up enough to come close to supplying the demand?  I don't know when that can be expected, but I imagine the time is in years rather than months.  RKS

Those are my thoughts exactly.  A Bond film type of exposure this early in the game would mean we'd have a lot more demand that can't be filled.  That's why we are currently in the process of creating a manufacturing director job in the company so he can focus on getting more guns out, and I can focus on expanding the product line and growing the company.  When you think about it, we've only been shipping guns since September 2011 - that's only about 5 months.  We are just barely out of the blocks.

30!  Sounds fun to me.

If that pans out, I hope there is a HMSS-007 in the next order!

Actually, although i am not in the movie industry I do represent defense procurement interests for elements of the British government for which concealable firearms are required and ordered 30 units a while back for extensive testing.
